Biomechanical and Gait Analysis:

Biomechanics and gait assessment is an examination procedure concerned with the lower limbs. The procedure looks at muscle strength, alignment, the range of joint motion, muscle function and joint function; with a focus on how the foot, knees, hips, pelvis and back interact with each other. Pain in one region may be because of weakness elsewhere and as such it’s important to examine the body as a whole.
Abnormal walking patterns can be the cause of postural problems and may cause pain in everything from foot, ankle, knee, hip, back and in some cases even neck pain.
After a biomechanics assessment, a range of treatment options can be implemented including orthotic therapy, footwear advice, flexibility and strength advice including advice on changing current activity.
Normally, a Biomechanical assessment will last about an hour and may include a scan for custom fitted orthotics.

General Podiatry (chiropody)

A routine podiatry appointment will include the removal of hard skin and corns, nail trimming and if necessary nail thinning. An appointment will also include the conservative treatment of ingrown toenails.

Diabetes Foot Screening:

Although it’s often overlooked, foot care is vitally important for diabetic patients. A foot screening for a diabetic patient involves the assessing of the vascular and neurological state of the foot e.g. the assessment of blood flow and nerve sensation.
Podiatrists also look at any deformities and any red flag issues that may lead to ulcers or even amputations.
General podiatry treatments are often included in a diabetic foot screening appointment.
